Tutor shines in 1st Phoenix Run

THE COMEBACKING Christy Sevellino-Tutor emerged on top yesterday in the first-ever Phoenix Run that finished at the Ayala Center Cebu’s The Terraces.

Tutor won the women’s 10-kilometer crown while Kenyan Josphat Kiptanui topped the men’s side.

Tutor finished with a time of 43 minutes and 02 seconds while Kiptanui breezed through the finish line in 34 minutes and 16 seconds.

Second to Tutor was Madelyn Carter, who clocked 43:52 while Marichu Luterte claimed third place with a time of 45:29 seconds.

FEATURED STORIES

Bonifacio Monjas, on the other hand, trailed Kiptanui in second place with a time of 34 minutes and 33 seconds. Kenyan Douglas Mwiti rounded off the top three 10k male runners with a time of 34 minutes and 34 seconds.

Kenyan Abraham Missous and Lovely Fe Andrin dominated the 5k open category.

Missous easily won the 5k men’s side with a time of 16:44 while Andrin finished in 21:15.

Aldren Agang and Crizel Diongson, meanwhile, topped the 3k open category.

Agang clocked 08:46 while Diongson finished in 10:46.

The event is organized by the Sacred Heart School-Hijas De Jesus Student Council and the SHS-HDJ Foundation in line with the centennial celebration of St. Candida Maria de Jesus and her congregation’s missionary works.
