MANILA, Philippines — While tollway firms and government agencies have stressed that radio frequency identification (RFID) tags would still be available even after expressways adopt a fully automated system, motorists still want to get the stickers and beat the deadline to avoid being hassled on the road.

Days before the December 1 implementation of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) program geared at limiting person-to-person transactions to avoid coronavirus transmissions, both Easytrip and Autosweep — RFID providers for Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) and San Miguel Corp. Tollways (SMC Tollways), respectively — have rolled out a number of installation sites.

MPTC’s Easytrip RFID stickers, which can be used in the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), and Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX), may be obtained at the following locations:

For walk-in applicants

Monday to Sunday, 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Monday to Saturday, 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Monday to Saturday, 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Monday to Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

There are also installation sites open for Class 1 vehicles that secured appointments online:

The following toll plazas, however, are now implementing an RFID-only entry, which means that using these access points would mean Easytrip tags will have to be installed on site:

As for Autosweep tags, which can be used in SMC-managed tollways such as the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), Skyway, NAIA Expressway, (NAIAX), STAR Tollways, and the Tarlac-La Union-Pangasinan Expressway (TPLEX), stickering will be available at the following places:

SLEX (6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.)

Skyway/ NAIAx (6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.)

STAR (6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.)

TPLEX (6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.)

Currently, both Easytrip and Autosweep RFIDs are free of charge but customers have to shell out cash to cover the pre-loaded value that usually amounts to P200.
