CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—Police on Monday (Nov. 23) announced the rescue of a Vietnamese woman and the arrest of three Chinese men allegedly behind her abduction last Nov. 18.

Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo, head of the Philippine National Police’s Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG), said in a statement that the woman, Vong Cam Lan, was rescued at the Chinese men’s house in a posh subdivision in Angeles City, Pampanga province last Nov. 21.

The house was supposed to be the drop-off point for ransom.

AKG operatives, led by Col. Villaflor Bannawagan, caught the suspects Rouhan Li, Qiang Zhang and Jing Li in the same house. Bannawagan’s group carried out the rescue mission at the request of Lan’s husband.

Lan has positively identified the three men as her kidnappers.

They are now locked up at the AKG detention center and faced kidnapping charges.

Estomo said five to 10 Chinese men scout for victims in places where Chinese nationals gather.
