/ 09:46 AM January 29, 2012

AROUND a thousand runners will answer the starting gun today for “The Phoenix Run” at Ayala Center Cebu’s The Terraces.

Organized by the Sacred Heart School-Hijas De Jesus, the school’s student council and the SHS-HDJ Foundation, the running event will feature 3-kilometer, 5k, and 10k categories. It will also have 100-meter and 200-m dash special categories for pre-school runners.

Highlighting the race is the launching of the school’s mascot, the Phoenix.

The Phoenix was chosen by the school as its mascot since it symbolizes the centennial celebration of St. Candida Maria de Jesus and her congregation’s missionary work.
