WATCH: Hundreds of families in Muntinlupa displaced by Ulysses
MANILA, Philippines — About 324 families from Cupang, Muntinlupa City were displaced from their homes due to the effects of Typhoon Ulysses.
In a video by Radyo Inquirer, tents were set up in a covered court in the barangay to provide temporary shelter to displaced families.
Village chief Rainier Bulos said that a total of 1,424 individuals were housed in different evacuation centers in the barangay.
“’Yung mga nasa coastal area na residents namin ay talagang nakaranas ng pagkasira ng bahay, ng bubong, experience doon sa baha,” he said.
Ulysses, the 21st cyclone storm to hit the country this year, triggered massive flooding in Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon on Thursday.
Article continues after this advertisementBased on the data of the Department of the Interior and Local Government, the calamity has killed 14 people.
The typhoon struck areas in Luzon which had barely recovered from the onslaught of Super Typhoon Rolly (Goni), which killed at least 25 people and destroyed thousands of residences.
