Tagbilaran police jail escapee recaptured
TAGBILARAN CITY—Police captured early on Thursday (Nov. 12) a detainee who had escaped from the Tagbilaran police jail.
Ian Maromas Abendan, 27, escaped by deceiving a jail guard into letting him hang clothes outside his cell last Wednesday (Nov. 11).
He had other plans, though. As soon as he was allowed outside, he jumped over a fence and ran.
Lt. Col. Mary Crystal Peralta, Tagbilaran police chief, said police got a tip about where Abendan was hiding.
Police caught up with Abendan, who was hiding in a mahogany tree at a village in Tagbilaran, around 9 a.m. on Thursday.
The tipster received P20,000 in reward from the city government, Peralta said.
