MANILA, Philippines — Yellow rainfall warning was raised Thursday afternoon in parts of Luzon—including Metro Manila—due to Typhoon Ulysses, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
In an advisory issued at 2 p.m., the state weather bureau said yellow rainfall warning was raised in Metro Manila, Tarlac, Pampanga, Zambales, Bataan, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, and Rizal.
According to Pagasa, those in areas under yellow rainfall warning should be alert as flooding is possible in low-lying areas and near river channels.
Meanwhile, Pagasa said light to moderate with occasional heavy rains are also expected over Nueva Ecija and Quezon which may persist within three hours.
As of 1 p.m., the eye of Ulysses was last spotted 140 kilometers west of Iba, Zambales. It is packing maximum sustained winds 130 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 160 kph, while moving from 25 kph to 35 kph.
Pagasa said moderate to heavy rains will persist until Thursday night over Cordillera Administrative Region, the eastern portions of Cagayan and Isabela, Zambales, Bataan, Aurora, Cavite, the western portion of Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro including Lubang Island.
