Not his lucky day
A watchman in Manila was seriously injured Wednesday evening when a handgun he was turning over for inspection accidentally went off. Rosauro Bayan, an employee of the Gregory security agency, remains confined at the Ospital ng Maynila for the treatment of a bullet wound on the right side of the chest. The incident happened at around 7 p.m. inside the North Harbor Center, Road 10 in Tondo. Officer-in-charge Edwin Tomas of the Gregory security agency told police investigators that security personnel were in formation for inspection before the routine turnover of duty when the incident happened. Tomas said that Bayan, who was among the incoming duty guards, was handing over his .38 caliber service revolver for inspection when it accidentally fired. The bullet hit the security guard in the right side of the chest and exited through his back. The injured Bayan was rushed by his colleagues to the nearest hospital for treatment. Jeannette I. Las Piñas scholarships
LAS PIÑAS City Mayor Vergel “Nene” Aguilar has vowed to continue to provide more scholarship grants to the less privileged but deserving students to meet the city’s goal of total literacy and livelihood through equal opportunities in education. Aguilar reiterated his pledge after one of the graduates of Dr. Filemon C. Aguilar Memorial College (DFCAMC), Dennis Cabunilas Magallanes, ranked 10th in the last Certified Public Accountancy (CPA) board examinations. The city-run college that offers free education garnered a 70 percent passing rate, one of the highest in the country. The DFCAMC was established in 1998 and now offers courses in accounting technology and accountancy. The city, likewise, grants full collegiate scholarships to poor but deserving Las Piñas high school graduates who wish to finish a two-year course or want to continue and pursue a four-year course in college.
