Rizal residents trapped by floodwater seek rescue

MANILA, Philippines — Some residents in Rizal are now trapped on their roofs as Typhoon Ulysses continue to cause heavy flooding in the area.

Photos from a volunteer of the non-profit organization Ambagan PH show residents in Brgy. Banaba, San Mateo, Rizal seeking refuge on the roofs of their houses as they await the arrival of rescuers.

“According to our volunteer who resides there, there are already rescue efforts in the area though many are still in need of evacuation,” the organization told INQUIRER.net in an online message.

It said that residents in Dulong Bayan in San Mateo as well as in North Libis, Felicidad Village 3, and in Brgy. Maly are also in need of rescue.

“Marami pang mga matatanda at bata,” it added.

Residents along Sta. Martha St. Goldriver Ville Burgos in the municipality of Rodriguez in Rizal are also seeking help.

“May mga bata po silang kasama. Hirap din po kami mag-contact sa rescue hotline. Please po pa-rescue po sila,” Gracielle Pastor posted on Facebook.

(There are children. They are also having a hard time contacting the rescue hotline. Please rescue them.)
