Bukidnon mall closed after 19 employees get virus
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Misamis Oriental, Philippines — The local government of Valencia City in Bukidnon province ordered the temporary closure of a mall after one of its workers tested positive for the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and infected 18 others.
Vice Mayor Paul Murillo, head of the city’s incident command center for COVID-19, said the first to contract the virus was a warehouse checker who was infected by her husband after he tested positive following an Oct. 18 wedding at the hotel where he was working.
Among those infected were personnel in the mall’s maintenance, accounting and security departments. As of Nov. 9, Valencia recorded 233 COVID-19 infections, with 43 classified as active cases.
