4 minors arrested for snatching Bello’s cell phone in Manila

MANILA, Philippines — Police have arrested four minors for allegedly snatching the cell phone of Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III.

According to a report from the Ermita Police Station of the Manila Police District that was released to the media on Monday, Bello’s phone was snatched along P. Burgos Street near the Manila City Hall and Mehan Garden on Friday night.


“The victim identified as Silvestre Bello III, Secretary of the Department of Labor and Employment who was at that time using his cellular phone while the passenger window was temporarily open when the four suspects appeared and took his cellular phone and ran over towards south bound of P Burgos Street,” the police report read.

Police said the suspects were arrested in an operation on Sunday. They were initially placed under the custody of the Theft and Robbery Section of the Manila Police District.
