LPA now tropical depression Tonyo–Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — The low pressure area (LPA) west of Sorsogon turned into Tropical Depression Tonyo on Saturday night, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

“At 8:00 PM tonight, the Low Pressure Area west of Sorsogon developed into Tropical Depression #TonyoPH,” Pagasa said in a Facebook post.

Pagasa said the Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 will be hoisted over areas “nearby or along the forecast track.”

Earlier, weathermen predicted that the tropical depression will bring rains over most of Luzon, including Metro Manila on Sunday.
