LRT-1 resumes regular operations after technical woes at Gil Puyat Station
MANILA, Philippines — The Light Rail Transit-1 (LRT-1) resumed full operations on Friday after its engineers fixed the technical issue that caused the smoke that filled one of its trains in Gil Puyat Station, train management said.
“Update as of 8PM. LRMC Team has already finished repairing the catenary between Gil Puyat and Vito Cruz stations. Assessment and systems check were also done to ensure passenger safety. LRT-1 is now resuming its normal train operations from Baclaran to Balintawak,” read the statement sent to reporters.
Earlier, LRT-1 operations were limited from Central Station to Balintawak and vice versa for over six hours after one of its train wagons caught fire at Gil Puyat Station in Pasay.
But the LRT-1 management said it was not a fire incident, noting that there was an issue on its catenary system between Buendia and Vito Cruz stations at around 2 p.m. [ac]
