Terror suspect killed in Sultan Kudarat as arrest mission turns bloody
ZAMBOANGA CITY—A terror suspect was killed as he was being arrested by law enforcers in the province of Sultan Kudarat on Wednesday (Nov. 4).
Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan Jr., head of the Western Mindanao Command (Wesmincom), said Jazzer Nilong, aka Khalid Di Nilong, was killed in an inn at the village of Saliao in Esperenza town.
Policemen and soldiers were out to serve a warrant for the arrest of Nilong, a leader of an Islamic State affiliate, for three counts of frustrated murder when he sensed he was being surrounded by law enforcers.
He drew his gun and fired at the operatives who returned fire.
The warrant for Nilong’s arrest was issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 23 in General Santos City.
Nilong was believed to be behind a bombing in General Santos City and the murder of a police officer.
Brig. Gen. Roberto Capulong, head of the Army’s 602nd Infantry Brigade, said a loaded .45 caliber pistol, a 60 mm mortar, a rifle grenade, blasting cap and two sachets of suspected meth were found on Nilong.
