MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday logged 987 new cases of COVID-19, the lowest recorded increase since July.
However, the decrease may be due to Typhoon Rolly, which lashed many parts of the country over the weekend, the DOH said.
“We further caution that this decrease may still be observed over the next few days, and maybe followed by a relative “increase” in newly reported cases in the coming days or week,” it added.
In total, the country’s caseload hit 388,137.
Likewise, the DOH recorded an additional 140 recoveries, bringing the tally to 349,091, while 49 more patients succumbed to the disease raising the death toll to 7,367.
Of the total caseload, 31,679 are considered active, 92.7% of which exhibited mild symptoms or no symptoms at all.
Davao City recorded the newest COVID-19 infections with 136 cases, followed by Iloilo (67), Quezon City (47), and Iloilo City (41).
DOH said it removed 11 duplicates from the total case count, 10 of which were recovered cases.
Moreover, 13 cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths.
