Woman nabbed for selling ‘explosives’

A firecracker manufacturer was arrested for selling explosive ingredients in barangay Babag, Lapu-Lapu City.

Police said Delia Bensi, 49, sold one kilo of potassium chlorate for P120, half kilo of sulfur for P50 and a pack of improvised fuse for P50 to a police poseur buyer around 4 p.m. last Wednesday.

Police also seized 25 kilos of potassium chlorate from the woman’s house in sitio Sunlight in a buy bust operation conducted around 4:00 p.m.

SPO1 Jomar Ybañez, team leader of the Task Force Kalikasan, said the seized explosive materials could be used for blasting boulders of Mactan stones.

Police said Bensi is an authorized firecracker manufacturer. She has license for buying and transporting chemicals but was prohibited from selling explosive ingredients.
