MANILA, Philippines — The entire country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains as tropical storm Rolly (international name “Goni”) is forecast to exit the Philippine area of responsibility anytime this Tuesday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
Based on the weather forecast issued by Pagasa at 4 a.m., Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region and Ilocos Region will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeasterly surface wind flow.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms.
According to Pagasa, the center of tropical storm Rolly, which previously reached the super typhoon category and was declared world’s the strongest typhoon so far for this year, was last spotted 450 kilometers west of Iba, Zambales.
The tropical cyclone has maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph, and is moving westward at 15 kph.
“Nananatili itong nasa loob ng Philippine area of responsibility at anumang oras ay posible itong lumabas sa PAR ngayong araw,” Pagasa weather specialist Meno Mendoza said.
(It remains within the Philippine area of responsibility and anytime may exit PAR today.)
Meanwhile, tropical storm Sioni (international name “Atsani”) continues to move almost stationary 595 km east of Calayan, Cagayan. It has maximum sustained winds of 75 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.
“Dahil patuloy itong stationary o halos hindi gumagalaw sa kanyang kinaroroonan, mananatili pa rin ang ating expectation na posible itong maglandfall dito sa Batanes-Babuyan (Islands) area sa susunod na mga araw,” Mendoza said.

“Inaasahan na within 36 hours ay hindi ito masyadong gagalaw sa kanyang kinaroroonan kaya’t nananatili pa rin na ang ating forecast track ay posible pa ring magbago sa mga susunod na araw,” he added.
