A total of 100 street children from the different orphanage centers under the Cebu City Task Force on Street Children (CCTFSC) received a slipper each from Cebu City Marriott Hotel last Saturday, Jan. 21.
CCMH general manager Bruce Winton, assisted by the hotel’s public relations manager Charlene Go and CCTFSC chairperson and Cebu City Councilor Margot Osmeña, handed the Crocs slippers to the children.
The Crocs slippers were raised from the hotel’s Crocs Christmas tree last December wherein hotel guests donated a minimum of P500 in exchange for a pair of Crocs footwear hanged on the tree.
Go said the cash donations reached P21,000 and these will be turned over to the Children’s Hour next month.
During the turnover of slippers held in the morning of Jan. 21 at the CCTFSC compound in Pari-an, Cebu City, Winton, is speech, said he hoped the children would appreciate the gifts from Crocs.
He added the hotel will continue supporting the city in its program, especially if it is for the good of the street children and the community.
The hotel also distributed snacks to the beneficiaries.
Go said the slippers they collected in this year’s Crocs Christmas tree project had increased to 100 from last year’s 60.
The program ended with Osmeña thanking the hotel for the initiative.
She said the program will continue as long as there are street children roaming the streets. /EDITORIAL ASSISTANT TITO P. TAN
