LEGAZPI CITY –– A fire that razed a mall warehouse and convention center in this city on Sunday night caused damage estimated at P58.8 million, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said.
Fire Senior Supt. Renato Capuz, director of BFP Bicol, said the blaze struck the three warehouses of the LCC Department Store and the Concourse Convention Center in Barangay Baybay around 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1.
“The warehouses were damaged because of the merchandise made of combustible materials,” Capuz said.
He said the fire also spread at the event center on the second floor of the building, but the firefighters were able to save the three other warehouses in the compound.
The fire reached the fourth alarm and was declared fire out at 3 a.m., Monday. No one was injured.
The fire reportedly originated from the warehouse, but the cause was still being investigated.
