MANILA, Philippines — A 78-year-old man died Sunday in Bulalacao, Oriental Mindoro while waiting to enter a church that would have served as his temporary shelter amid the onslaught of Typhoon Rolly.
Aladino Alarcon suddenly fell and experienced difficulty in breathing, Bulalacao’s public information office (PIO) said on its Facebook page.
Alarcon was brought to Bulalacao Community Hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival.
The Bulalacao PIO said his remains are still at the municipal gymnasium.
The northern part of Oriental Mindoro remains under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 4 as former Super Typhoon Rolly was downgraded to a typhoon on Sunday at 11 a.m.
