9 Bangko Sentral workers in Tuguegarao City contract COVID-19

TUGUEGARAO CITY-Nine workers and security personnel of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) branch in Tuguegarao City were isolated in the city’s quarantine facility after they tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Dr. Carlos Cortina, Cagayan provincial health office chief, said seven of those infected were from this city while the others are from the towns of Enrile and Peñablanca in Cagayan province.

It is not immediately known how the workers contracted COVID-19.

Contact tracing was immediately carried out to avoid the spread of the virus.

Swab samples were also taken from other BSP workers who have been working as authorized persons outside residence because of the nature of their duties.

BSP transactions remain unaffected, Cortina said.

In the entire Cagayan Valley region, 22 new COVID-19 cases were reported on Thursday. Fourteen of these were from Isabela, four in Cagayan, three in Nueva Vizcaya, and one in Santiago City. Villamor Visaya Jr. INQ
