N. Samar health worker succumbs to COVID-19

TACLOBAN CITY – A 58-year-old female health worker from Las Navas, Northern Samar succumbed to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on Friday.

According to the health office of the municipal government, the health worker passed away while she being transported to Tacloban City.

The health worker, who had diabetes, hypertension, asthma, and a heart condition, was admitted at the Calbayog District Hospital in Calbayog City, Samar on October 28.

She was swabbed on October 26 and was found positive of COVID-19.

Eastern Visayas’ death toll due to COVID-19 is now at 61.

Meanwhile, San Antonio, an island town in Northern Samar, recorded its first COVID-19 patient,  a 40-year-old woman.

She is now at the town’s isolation facility.

With San Antonio having its first COVID-19 cases, only the towns of Biri and San Vicente remain to be COVID-19 free in Northern Samar.

As of October 31,2020, Eastern Visayas has a total of 6,680 COVID-19 cases.
