Reward vs quarrying

/ 11:35 PM January 27, 2012

COTABATO CITY—North Cotabato Gov. Emmylou Taliño-Mendoza on Friday announced a P50,000-reward for those who could help in the campaign against illegal sand and soil quarrying.

Mendoza said she hoped the reward would prompt residents to help the provincial government identify those involved in the illegal quarry operations in the province and the government officials abetting their activities.

Soil carved out of hillsides in the province is often called mountain mix and is used in road rehabilitation or construction, or in landfills.  Mendoza said tipsters could contact her office and if the information was found to be correct, the reward would be given.
