2,053 new cases push PH’s COVID-19 cases past 375,000

MANILA, Philippines — The recorded 2,053 new infections pushed the country’s total COVID-19 cases beyond 375,000 on Wednesday.

Based on the latest data of the Department of Health (DOH), the nationwide tally is now at 375,180, including 38,995 “active” cases.

DOH also reported that 540 additional patients recovered from the disease while 61 more died, bringing sum recoveries and death toll to 329,111 and 7,114 respectively.

DOH said that 83 percent of the 38,995 active cases are mild while 11.1 percent are asymptomatic, 3.8 percent are critical and 2.2 percent are severe.

Caloocan was identified as the top area with the most number of new cases at 108, trailed by Quezon City at 103, Negros Occidental at 97, Benguet at 93, and Rizal at 85.

DOH also said it found and removed 17 duplicates of which 14 were recoveries from the total case count; and that there were 17 cases tagged as recoveries but were later reclassified as death cases.
