LEGAZPI CITY –– Typhoon “Quinta” that wrought havoc in Bicol on Sunday left five people dead and five other missings, a report of the Office of Civil Defense said.
Four of the victims, two of whom were minors, drowned while one was electrocuted at the height of the typhoon, the report said.
The victims were identified as Romeo Torillos, Sr., 44, his son Romeo Jr.,19, and Luisito Tallada, 15, all fishermen of Barangay District 3, Gigmoto, Catanduanes; Rolan Kaiser Eustaqio, 3, of Bacacay, Albay; and Ruivic Quinto, of Barangay Salceda of Daet, Camarines Norte.
All the reported casualties were subject to verification by the Department of Interior and Local Government Management of Dead and Missing Cluster, according to Gremil Alexis Naz, OCD Bicol spokesperson.
Search-and-rescue operations were still ongoing for the five missing fishermen identified as Dante, 43, and Joel, 41 both surnamed Potenciano, of Panganiban, Catanduanes; Francis Valles, also of Panganiban; Roberto and Jomar, both surnamed De la Concepcion, of Gigmoto, Catanduanes.
As of Oct. 27, damage to agriculture and public infrastructure was placed at P689 million. The typhoon destroyed about P652 million worth of crops and livestock in some 8,380 hectares of farmlands and damaged P36.2 million in infrastructure.
The report said 10,716 houses were either damaged and destroyed.
