Tricycle driver dead in Abra town gun attack

BAGUIO CITY–A tricycle driver was killed in the town of Peñarrubia, Abra province when unidentified assailants shot him while he was on his way home late on Monday (Oct. 26), according to police.

Investigators said the victim, Felipe Ablog Belena Jr., 39, of the village of Malamsit, was with his daughter and mother in his tricycle when he was attacked.

Belena’s daughter and mother were unhurt. The mother was cited by police as saying the gunmen shot her son repeatedly until the tricycle slammed into a wall on the road.

Belena suffered gunshot wounds in the head and abdomen and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police have yet to determine the motive for the attack.
