MANILA, Philippines — More than 3,000 personnel among Metro Manila police are facing administrative complaints due to “neglect of duty” or “misconduct,” the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) revealed Tuesday.
In a data presented during the NCRPO press briefing regarding internal cleansing, administrative cases were filed against 3,361 personnel from Oct. 12, 2019, to Oct. 20 this year.
NCRPO said 70 percent of the personnel were charged due to breach of internal discipline, two percent were charged due to illegal activities, while 28 percent were charged because of human rights violations.
NCRPO said breach of internal discipline means those who underwent absence without official leave status, those who failed to attend court hearings, and those who failed to comply with lawful orders.
In addition, 20,259 personnel at the NCRPO underwent random drug testing. Of these, 17 personnel tested positive for illegal drug use.
This increased by one personnel from September 3 data wherein 16 personnel tested positive for using illegal drugs.
