2 hurt after ‘Quinta’ ravaged Oriental Mindoro

CITY OF CALAPAN –– Describing Typhoon “Quinta” (international name: Molave) as one of the longest weather disturbances that hit the province, Oriental Mindoro Governor Humerlito Dolor, however, said no casualty has been reported so far, but two people were injured and rescued in Baco town.

He did not provide other details on the injured.

Different parts of the province were flooded and structures and houses were destroyed, he said.

Meanwhile, disaster personnel, police, and soldiers went on clearing operations on Monday to make roads passable after the typhoon dumped rains over Mindoro since late night Sunday.

Among those damaged by Quinta is the national highway in Barangay Malinao in Naujan town, the provincial disaster risk reduction, and management office said.

A rapid assessment of the extent of damage is being prepared to help determine if a declaration of a state of calamity will be proposed to the provincial board.
