2 persons die of COVID-19 in Eastern Visayas
TACLOBAN CITY –– Two persons died of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Eastern Visayas last week.
A year-old boy from Catarman, Northern Samar succumbed to the disease on Oct. 22, just hours after he was swabbed while confined at the Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center (EVRMC) Tacloban City.
The boy was immediately buried in a public cemetery in Catarman town.
He was a close contact of his father and grandfather, both tested positive for the virus.
Two days later, on Oct. 24, a 76-year-old man, also from Northern Samar, died due to COVID-19 complications.
The elderly from Laoang town had diabetes, pneumonia, and urinary tract infection.

Article continues after this advertisementMeanwhile, the Allen District Hospital in Allen town, Northern Samar, was closed for 10 days starting Oct. 23 for disinfection after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.
The regional office of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) based in Palo town, Leyte, also suspended operations effective Monday, Oct. 26, for disinfection after an employee had contact with a COVID-19 patient.
The regional office of the Department of Health reported that Eastern Visayas has 6,317 COVID-19 cases as of Sunday.
