Severe Tropical Storm Quinta floods parts of Samar, Biliran
TACLOBAN CITY – Heavy rains spawned by Severe Tropical Storm Quinta have flooded parts of Eastern Visayas on Sunday.
Among those affected by floodwaters were Catbalogan and Calbayog cities, both in Samar; and Naval in Biliran.
Biliran Gov. Roger Espina ordered residents in areas prone to floods and landslides to evacuate immediately.
In Mapanas, Northern Samar, however, “Quinta” did not inflict serious damage, said Joe Louis Gajatos of the local disaster risk reduction management office.

The municipal government, however, is still on alert for eventualities.
In Tacloban City, its engineering office conducted drainage clearing operations to prevent flooding.
