MRT 3 closed from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2
The Metro Railway Transit 3 (MRT 3) will temporarily shut down operations from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2 to give way to bushing replacement of the 34.5-kilovolt alternating current switch gear at the Taft Avenue station.
The maintenance activity, conducted by Sumitomo-Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, came as the train line increased its running speed from 30 kilometers per hour to 40 kph this month.
The MRT 3 hopes to speed up its trains to 50 kph in November and 60 kph in December. —MARIEJO S. RAMOS
