MANILA, Philippines — The total number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the Philippines soared to 363,888 after 1,664 new infections were recorded, according to the latest data released Thursday by the Department of Health (DOH).
Of the total cases, 44,772 are considered active cases, of which 83.6 percent are mild, 11.2 percent are asymptomatic, 3.3 percent are critical and 1.9 percent are severe cases.
Cavite was identified as having the most number of new cases with 81 infections. Next is Malabon City and Davao City, both having 76 cases. Closely following are Iloilo City with 75 cases and Quezon City with 65 cases.
The latest data from the DOH also reported 843 new recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries to 312,333.
Meanwhile, the country’s COVID-19 death toll also rose to 6,783 after 38 new fatalities were logged.
The DOH noted that it had removed 19 duplicates from the total case count. Of the duplicates, five were recoveries and two were deaths.
Further, there were also 11 cases that previously tagged as recoveries but were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
