DSWD nears completion of SAP 2nd tranche distribution
MANILA, Philippines — Some 13.9 million of the 14 million target beneficiaries of cash aid from the government amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, have so far received the second tranche of the financial assistance under the Social Amelioration Program (SAP), the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) reported Thursday.
This amounts to P83.5 billion of cash aid given to beneficiaries nationwide, DSWD Undersecretary Glen Paje said in a televised briefing.
“Sa kasalukuyan po 98 percent na ang ating accomplishment rate para sa ikalawang yugto ng SAP [social amelioration program],” Paje said.
(At present, we have a 98 percent accomplishment rate for the second tranche of SAP.)

Paje explained that those who have yet to receive their cash aid are beneficiaries who have discrepancies in the information they had provided like the absence of middle names and active contact numbers.
“At meron din pong mang-ilan-ilan na mga beneficiaires na nasa hard-to-reach o geographically isolated areas,” he added.
(There are also some beneficiaries residing in hard-to-reach or geographically isolated areas.)
The distribution of SAP was mandated by the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act where each beneficiary will receive P5,000 to P8,000 cash subsidy in two tranches based on the prevailing minimum wage rates in their respective regions.
