COVID-19 case count in PH hits 359,169 as DOH logs 2,638 new patients

MANILA, Philippines — An additional 2,638 newly-reported COVID-19 cases have brought the nationwide tally to 359,169, the Department of Health (DOH) reported Monday.

Of the sum, 42,191 were tagged as “active” cases while 310, 303 were recoveries, including the 226 newly-recovered patients, and 6,675 were death cases, including 26 new fatalities, according to DOH’s latest bulletin.

DOH said the majority or 83.1 percent of the sum active cases were patients with mild symptoms, as 11.3 percent were asymptomatic while 2.1 percent have severe symptoms and 3.6 percent were in critical condition.

Most of the new 2,638 patients came from Quezon City with 141, trailed by Cavite (140), Laguna (128), Batangas (120), and Rizal (108), the health agency also said.

Meanwhile, DOH has again adjusted its COVID-19 with the removal of 87 cases from the total count after final verification showed those were duplicate entries.
