MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang on Saturday expressed its gratitude to the House of Representatives for passing the proposed 2021 national budget bill and also hoped that the same will be transmitted to the Senate “as soon as possible.”
“We thank the House of Representatives for passing on third and final reading the 2021 General Appropriations Bill (GAB) on time or within the special session called by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte,” presidential spokesman Harry Roque said in a statement.
Roque added that Duterte, “in many occasions”, articulated the importance of the timely passage of the proposed spending measure for next year.
It was on Friday when House members approved on third and final reading House Bill No. 7727 or GAB.
This bill was approved on the fourth and final day of the marathon special session called for by the President to avoid delay in the passage of the proposed spending measure.
With the passage of the proposed budget in the House of Representatives, Roque added that the bill will then be transmitted to the Senate so that members will be given “ample time to act on this legislative measure, which has been certified urgent by the President.”
