SAN FRANCISCO, Agusan del Sur – Thirty sub-villages or purok in ten barangays here are under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Mayor Solomon Rufila imposed the ECQ in identified critical zone areas of Barangay 2, 3, 4 and 5, and in the outskirts Barangays Hubang, San Isidro, Alegria, Pisaan, Karaos and Rizal.

The ECQ status will be from October 16, and to 5p.m. on October 31, 2020.

Rufila said there is a need to restrict the movement of residents who are in close contact with COVID-19 patients to curb the spread of the viral infection.

The town has a total of 57 COVID-19 cases (32 active).  One patient has died.

During the last week of September, San Francisco was the first town of Agusan del Sur declared by the Department of Health as having local virus transmission.

Early this week, the same situation gripped Loreto and Bunawan towns, which were since placed under modified ECQ.

In Loreto, the lockdown started last October 8, 2020 and will end on November 5, 2020 as ordered by Mayor Lorife Magadan Otaza.

Bunawan Mayor Sylvia Elorde has placed the entire town under modified ECQ for 14 days, from October 15 to October 29.

In Bayugan City, two sub-villages were on lockdown since Oct. 14. Mayor Kirk Asis told village leaders to suspend visits to tourism sites and similar activities.
