3 more cops based in Catarman, Northern Samar have COVID-19
TACLOBAN CITY –– Three more policemen based in capital town of Catarman in Northern Samar tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The three police officers have been quarantined to prevent the spread of the virus, which, as of Friday, had infected at least 97 policemen in Eastern Visayas. At least 65 of them have recovered.
Catarman now has 110 COVID-19 cases with one death, that of a 71-year-old man, on Oct. 12.
With its rising number of COVID-19 cases, all of Catarman’s 23 barangays at the town proper have been placed under lockdown from Oct. 15 to Oct. 30.
In Lawaan town, Eastern Samar, the municipal government was placed under lockdown until the end of this month after a 42-year-old man got COVID-19.
The Department of Health (DOH) in the region said the number of COVID-19 cases now reached 5,644 with the new 88 cases added on Friday.
Article continues after this advertisementOf the new cases, 41 were from Leyte province; 19 from Samar province; 22 from Southern Leyte; five from Northern Samar; and one from Eastern Samar.
