Hospital’s emergency room, outpatient department in Kabankalan reopen
BACOLOD CITY –– The emergency room and outpatient department of a hospital in Kabankalan City reopened Friday, Oct. 9, while the rest of the hospital will open on Monday.
The Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital was closed to the public on Sept. 30 to disinfect the facility after a nurse tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Negros Occidental Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said three other staff members of the hospital––an emergency room nurse, a clerk, and a dietician––also contracted the virus.
“The clerk and the dietician may have been infected outside the hospital since they had minimal contact with the first nurse who tested positive,” he said.
The city had six new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, while Negros Occidental had 27.
The city now has a total of 4,272 COVID-19 cases, with 3,332 recoveries, and 95 deaths.
