11 teachers in Isabela test positive for COVID-19

MANILA, Philippines — Eleven public school teachers in Ilagan City, Isabela have tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), Gov. Rodito Albano III said.

According to Albano, the teachers tested positive for COVID-19 after holding a meeting without knowing that one of them is infected but is asymptomatic.

“Nagmeeting ‘yung teachers sa western Ilagan. Hindi nila alam may isang guro doon na positive pala, asymptomatic. Nagkahawaan na sila tapos tuloy-tuloy na,” Albano said in an interview with ABS-CBN’s Teleradyo on Thursday.

(The teachers held a meeting in western Ilagan. They did not know that one of them is positive for COViD-19 but asymptomatic. The transmission then happened consequently.)

The teachers have mild symptoms of the disease, according to the governor.

Due to the spike of COVID-19 cases in Ilagan City, Albano earlier issued an executive order imposing a modified enhanced community quarantine in the city from October 6 to 16.

“Sa MECQ suspendido ang klase hanggang October 16, hanggang hindi namin maayos itong mga teachers,” he also said.

(Classes are suspended until October 16 until we finish dealing with the teachers.)
