Makati distributes face masks, shields to nearly 10,000 employees

MANILA, Philippines – The Makati City government has started distributing free cloth face masks and face shields to its nearly 10,000 employees.

Makati Mayor Abby Binay said on Monday each employee would receive two cloth masks and one face shield.

The recipients include regular, casual, contractual, and job order employees of the city hall.

This new initiative is to combat the spread of the coronavirus and keep the government employees safe, Binay said.

“Giving our employees free face masks and face shields is one way of ensuring their safety from contracting the disease and preventing its spread in the workplace,” the mayor said in a statement.

“At the same time, it also promotes safer delivery of services to city residents and the general public,” she added.

The Makati government has implemented numerous projects to ensure the safety of its employees and the over 500,000 city residents.

Last August, all city hall employees were provided with free flu and pneumonia shots to boost their immune system during the coronavirus pandemic.

Along with this, the government has been providing free vitamins, including Vitamin C and B-complex, to personnel who have been reporting for duty even during the enhanced community quarantine. Miggy Dumlao, trainee
