Makati distributes face masks, shields to nearly 10,000 employees
MANILA, Philippines – The Makati City government has started distributing free cloth face masks and face shields to its nearly 10,000 employees.
Makati Mayor Abby Binay said on Monday each employee would receive two cloth masks and one face shield.
The recipients include regular, casual, contractual, and job order employees of the city hall.
This new initiative is to combat the spread of the coronavirus and keep the government employees safe, Binay said.
“Giving our employees free face masks and face shields is one way of ensuring their safety from contracting the disease and preventing its spread in the workplace,” the mayor said in a statement.
“At the same time, it also promotes safer delivery of services to city residents and the general public,” she added.
