Cop nabbed for shooting dead drinking buddy in Legazpi City
LEGAZPI CITY –– A policeman was arrested on Sunday night for shooting and killing his companion at a drinking binge in Barangay Homapon this city, a police report said.
Arrested was Patrolman Rhonnel Loria, 34, a resident of Barangay Homapon and a member of the Legazpi City police force, Police Captain Dexter Panganiban, Albay police spokesperson, said.
Initial police investigation said that at 11:55 p.m., the suspect and the victim identified as Restituto Millare, also a resident of the said village, were having a drinking spree at a birthday party.
Suddenly, the two had a heated argument, prompting the suspect to draw his gun and fire at the victim.
The victim suffered a bullet wound on his left shoulder but died while being taken to the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital here.
The suspect surrendered his issued firearm, a “Canik” 9mm pistol, which he used in the shooting incident.
