Cagayan Valley logs new coronavirus death
TUGUEGARAO CITY –– A 35-year-old man from Tuao in Cagayan was the latest recorded fatality related to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the province on Sunday, officials said.
Dr. Rio Magpantay, regional director of the Department of Health-Cagayan Valley Center for Health Development, said the patient came from Batangas province and had underlying ailments.
Magpantay said the man became the region’s 27th death related to COVID-19. A total of 1,656 COVID-19 cases have been recorded in Cagayan Valley since March.
The man died while being treated at the Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC). His wife had also contracted the virus but managed to leave the province to go to Batangas province, said Dr. Glenn Mathew Baggao, CVMC chief.
