TACLOBAN CITY—At least 96 new COVID-19 cases were recorded in Eastern Visayas on Wednesday (Sept. 23), raising the region’s tally of coronavirus infections to 4,263.
Most of the newly infected were close contacts of other COVID-19 patients, according to the Department of Health (DOH).
The others involved individuals who had been stranded in other places and health workers.
At the Northern Samar provincial health office, at least 39 health workers had been tested and two were positive for SARS Cov2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
The two were a 22-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman who were believed to have contracted the virus from the woman’s 29-year-old husband. The two new patients are now on quarantine in the municipal government’s isolation facility.
Results of tests on the Northern Samar health workers were known on Tuesday (Sept. 22).
