House of Representatives logs 79th COVID-19 case
MANILA, Philippines — Another employee of the House of Representatives has contracted the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) raising the tally of cases in the lower chamber to 79.
House Secretary-General Jose Luis Montales on Wednesday said the new case is an employee from the Protocol and Special Affairs Service.
The employee last reported for work on September 10. Montales said the employee developed symptoms after being exposed to his mother, who is also a COVID-19 patient.
Of the 79 cases in the House, 13 are currently considered active.
So far, 10 lawmakers have tested positive for the coronavirus, the latest of which is Gabriela Party-list Rep. Arlene Brosas.
