BREAKING: Sorsogon Rep. Ditas Ramos passes away

MANILA, Philippines — Sorsogon 2nd District Rep. Ditas Ramos has passed away after testing positive for coronavirus.

The news regarding Ramos’ passing was announced during Tuesday’s session at the House of Representatives. But it was not mentioned if the lawmaker succumbed due to COVID-19.

“It is with sadness that we just found out that our dear colleague, Rep. Maria Bernadita ‘Ditas’ Ramos of the 2nd district of Sorsogon has passed away,” House Deputy Majority Leader Xavier Jesus Romualdo said.

Lawmakers also offered prayers to Ditas.

House Secretary-General Jose Luis Montales earlier announced that Ramos tested positive for COVID-19.

“We received word that Cong. Ditas Ramos (2nd District, Sorsogon) has tested positive for COVID-19.  She developed symptoms and got tested in the province,” Montales said in a statement.

“Let’s pray for the speedy and complete recovery of our confirmed cases,” he added.
