PNP gets new spokesman as Cascolan implements revamp

MANILA, Philippines — Recently-installed Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Camilo Cascolan on Tuesday named a new spokesperson for the institution as he enforced a reorganization among senior police officials to key posts.

Cascolan appointed Police Col. Ysmael Yu, previously PNP deputy regional director for operations in Police Regional Office 1, as acting chief of the PNP Public Information Office (PIO).

Yu will replace Police Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac, who – after a 20-month stint in PNP PIO – is now designated as new director of the PNP Training Service, according to a statement.

Meanwhile, Police Major Gen. Marni Marcos Jr. was named as new director of PNP Investigation and Detective Management and Police Major Gen. Celso Pestano as the new Directorate for Information and Communications Technology Management.

Moreover, Cascolan appointed Police Brig. Gen. Pascual Muñoz Jr., director of PNP Logistics Support Service, as regional director of Police Regional Office MIMAROPA while PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group chief Police Brigadier General Jonnel Estomo was appointed as Regional Director of Police Regional Office 7.
