Baby Lancers recover in U-16 championships
The University of the Visayas (uv) Baby Lancers bounced back from their heartbreaking overtime loss to St. John’s Institute by downing the Holy Child School, 81-68, in the ongoing 2012 Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas National Under-16 Championships yesterday at the Eastern College Incorporated gym in Baguio City.
The win gave the reigning Cesafi juniors champions a 2-1 (win-loss) card in the inaugural staging of the tournament that pits 12 of the best juniors squads of the country in an effort to identify young potential talents.
In other results, Sacred Heart of Jesus Montessori outlasted International School for Better Beginnings, 89-85, and St. John Institute defeated St. Clare, 83-71, yesterday to share the lead with perfect 3-0 cards. St. Bridget College also shamed host University of Baguio, 75-60, at the University of Baguio gym.
La Union College of Nursing and Arts, handed Albay-based team St. Agnes Academy its third successive defeat, 115-57, becoming the first team to hit the century mark and St. Louis completed a humiliation of the Bicolanos by clobbering Naga-based Universidad de Sta Isabel, 52-40.
