5 days left to give polio vaccine to 464, 950 kids in Central Luzon
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—Public health workers have given the second dose of polio vaccine to 882,055 children below five years old in Central Luzon.
At that rate, 65.48 percent of 1,347,005 million kids have been immunized from the poliovirus type 2 that causes life-long paralysis or death, the Department of Health reported on Monday.
The second round of the vaccination drive, which began on Sept. 14, lasts until Sept. 27.
The first round vaccinated more than 1.1 million children, or 81.66 of the target. Parents claimed being unable to go to health or barangay centers fo fear of getting infected by SARS Cov2, the virus that causes COVID-19 and which uses humans as its host.
