MANILA, Philippines — As the government now allowed health care workers with complete documents as of Aug. 31 to fly abroad for work, a maximum of 1,200 medical professionals are expected to leave the Philippines, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said Tuesday.

“A maximum of 1,200,” Bello said over ANC’s “Headstart” when asked of the Department of Labor and Employment’s estimate of how many workers will leave the country.

Bello added that among the documents health workers need to leave the country are a verified contract of employment, their visa, their overseas employment certificate, and their pre-departure orientation seminar certificate.

It was on Monday when Malacañang announced that medical professionals with complete documents as of Aug. 31, 2020 are now allowed to leave the country.

Previously, only health workers with complete documents as of March 8 were exempted from the deployment ban.
