4-month-old girl who died in Occidental Mindoro tests positive for coronavirus
CITY OF CALAPAN – A four-month-old baby girl who died in a hospital here became the 63rd confirmed coronavirus disease (COVID-19) case in Occidental Mindoro after her swab test came back positive for coronavirus, a provincial health office (PHO) report said.
The PHO report said the baby from Mamburao town had no travel history, and no known exposure to a confirmed COVID-19 case.
The infant experienced cough and difficulty of breathing on September 11 and died a day later while confined at the Occidental Mindoro Provincial Hospital due to respiratory failure and aspiration pneumonia.
Her swab specimen was collected on September and the positive result was released on Friday, September 18.
As of Saturday, the province has 63 COVID-19 cases — four of which are active cases, 56 recoveries, and three deaths.
Meanwhile, 13 provincial jail inmates, a jail guard and two health workers were among the 16 new COVID-19 cases in Calapan City, a report from the City Health and Sanitation Department (CHSD) said.
Article continues after this advertisementThe report also said there were 10 recoveries in this city, which included some health staff of CHSD, inmates of Oriental Mindoro Provincial Jail and patients from Barangay Silonay.
As of Friday night, the city has 329 confirmed cases, 76 active cases, 249 recoveries and four deaths.
